The fort of Kalavantin Durg is situated near Mumbai, in the Sahyadri Mountains of India.
The fort was built in the Buddha period before 500 BCE. It is elevated over 2000 feet, which is situated opposite to the Prahalbad and can be seen from the Mumbai-Pune Expressway too.
According to the legends, this used to be the palace and the fort of the Queen kalavantin. Fort is the part of the custom and heritage of the local people and they reach the top & dance during each festival.
It is said that, the whole Mumbai can be seen from the top of the fort.
Things to Carry
One has to be prepared before he/she leaves for such a trek activity, so there is a list of things, which can be carried to make trip more relaxed.
- Carry lots & lots of water as there is no source of water available near the fort.
- Carry juicy fruits like oranges etc.
- Camera can be carried if you are a nature lover.
- Wear sports shoes and do follow the correct instructions and way to climb up the fort.
