Ooty City – The Crown of Hill Station India

Ooty is the best monsoon destination in India and it is the capital of Nilgiri District in Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is 80 km away from Coimbatore. It is is the most popular hill station in South India. It has been chosen as the bollywood film shooting destination various times. The city is the manufacturer of several medicines, eucalyptus oil, nilgiri tea and cardamom.

Ooty is derived from the word Ootacamund, some time it is also called Udhagai. City is located deep in the Nilgiri hill, it is also called “THE BLUE MOUNTAINS”. Palace on Wheels – The Lifeline of Rajasthan

The palace on wheels is the most luxurious train in India and has been awarded the 4th most luxurious train in the world. This train was launched by the Rajasthan tourism and IRCTC to promote the tourism in Rajasthan.

History

The idea of palace on wheels was derived from the royal background of the coaches which before used to be the coaches of the rulers of the princely states like the nizams of Hyderabad, viceroy of British India. This train was started on 26th january 1982.

Facilities

There are 14 coaches fixed to the engine. Each coach is named after the princely state of India like Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bundi, Dholpur, Dungargarh, Jaisalmer, Kishangarh, Kota, Sirohi and Udaipur.The train has two restaurants MAHARAJA and MAHARANI serving continental and chinese cuisine. The train is also equipped with other multi cuisine food cafe, wellness spa, luxurious cabinets and a lounge bar.

The train departs from New Delhi, during it’s eight days journey around Rajasthan the train covers Agra, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Sawai Madhopur, Udaipur and Bharatpur.
